New boutique helps locals on a budget
NAPILI — Getting off to a quick start, a new consignment boutique in Napili Plaza is already stocked with name brand dresses and shirts supplied by more than 100 residents who want the shop to sell their items.
Described as “a new fun and exciting boutique just steps away from Napili Market,” the new business operated by longtime resident Ilona Martin goes by the name Elua Nani, meaning “second beauty” in Hawaiian.
Elua Nani accepts quality clothing and accessories in great condition — that normally would sell at a high price — for $5 to $25, according to Martin.
“Name brand home decor is also offered at amazing prices,” she said.
The boutique uses a computer system to track all merchandise. Customers who consign their apparel or small household decor items can call at any time to find out the balance in their account or request payment or a store credit.
“In a down economy with people hurting for cash, I think offering quality merchandise at low prices performs a real public service,” Martin said.
Items are kept for 45 days and returned to owners or donated to the nonprofit Women Helping Women to clothe victims of domestic violence.
The only true consignment shop in West Maui, according to Martin, Elua Nani is open six days a week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The store accepts new consignments Mondays and Wednesdays. Call 669-NANI.
