Maui welcomes first PETCO
KAHULUI — PETCO on Aug. 31 held an invitation-only blessing and soft opening of its first Maui store at Maui Marketplace.
A traditional Hawaiian blessing was conducted by Kahu Wayne Higa of Ka‘ahumanu Church. Speakers included Deidre Tegarden of the county Office of Economic Development and Joe Beller, PETCO district manager.
“We are so excited to finally be here on Maui,” said Beller.
“This marks our fourth store in Hawaii, and we look forward to a long relationship with the pets and the people of Maui.”
According to PETCO Store Manager Mike Woodby, the new location is approximately 11,300 square feet and will employ a staff of 30.
PETCO Maui Marketplace is now open Mondays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
PETCO’s grand opening celebration will be held Sept. 11 and will feature a variety of activities to introduce the new store and its team to the Maui community.
