KAHULUI — For a limited time, SOS Metals Recycling is offering free vehicle recycling.

Clean up the island and clear your property of unwanted junked vehicles and metals.

SOS Metals Recycling will arrange to pick up your vehicle for free, or bring it in yourself to claim up to $30 per ton cash back recycling value.

Vehicles must be stripped of rubbish, plants, dirt and have no extra tires — just the four it came with and a spare.

Car recyclers will be required to sign an affidavit of ownership.

SOS Metals pays top dollar for recyclable metals, including aluminum, copper, lead, iron, stainless steel white goods, cars and catalytic converters.

Dan Kohrdt of SOS Metals said, “We’re moving a shipload of scrap off of Maui all within the next four months. In the previous three years, SOS Metals has moved approximately four shiploads of scrap off this island at 10,000 to 15,000 tons per ship.

“We take pride in offering the residents of Maui a chance to get the abandoned vehicles off the road. It saves people money in abandoned vehicle fees and keeps the island clean.”

SOS Metals is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 8 a.m. to noon on the first Saturday of the month. They are located on Mokulele Highway in the Maui Baseyard.
