Na Hale O Maui to hold home buyer seminar

By Staff | May 6, 2010

WAILUKU — Na Hale O Maui will sponsor a home buyer seminar on Saturday, May 8, at the J. Walter Cameron Center.

Registration will be held at 8:45 a.m., followed by the free seminar from 9 to 10 a.m.

Potential home buyers are asked to reserve seating by calling 244-6110 or e-mailing info@nahaleomaui.org by May 7.

Na Hale O Maui, a community land trust working to secure and preserve a permanent supply of affordable housing for local residents, has received Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) funds of $3 million to acquire and rehabilitate foreclosure properties.

The organization has already sold four homes to qualified buyers on its home buyer list and is working to acquire more homes.

Na Hale O Maui is looking for qualified buyers to purchase these NSP units! Will you be one of them?

The seminar will provide important information about home ownership under the community land trust model and the steps a family can take today to work toward qualifying financially for a home loan.

Seminar attendees will learn why their credit score is important, how it is computed and how to improve it. The event will also cover the steps toward reaching home ownership through the community land trust (CLT) model.

Participants will learn how the unique structure of CLT’s makes property less expensive to the home buyer and, in many cases, easier to acquire.
