LAHAINA — West Maui Community Federal Credit Union (WMCFCU), in collaboration with Lahainaluna High School Foundation, is funding five $1,000 scholarships to graduating Lahainaluna High School seniors in May 2010.
WMCFCU Manager and CEO Michele Kawahara recently presented the $5,000 check to foundation President Rob Shelton and Scholarship Committee Chairman Andy Kutsunai.
“In continuing our partnerships with community organizations, businesses and individuals in providing financial assistance to Lahainaluna High School graduates, we are proud to announce that one of our new sponsors this year is the West Maui Community Federal Credit Union,” Kutsunai said.
“They are providing these scholarships to students of credit union members. We want to thank them for their generosity and support of the youth of our community.”
Kawahara said, “The WMCFCU Board of Directors and its members are pleased to be in the position to contribute to the graduating seniors of LHS through LHSF’s scholarship program, during these difficult economic times when job losses have caused families to struggle financially.”
