Tori Richard opens at Whalers Village

By Staff | Mar 11, 2010

Tori Richard is the leading brand for men’s and women’s resort and aloha apparel, inspired by exotic destinations around the world.

KAANAPALI — Tori Richard Ltd. recently opened a new store at Whalers Village.

This is the sixth retail store for the Honolulu-based resort apparel designer and manufacturer.

In addition to the widest selection of Tori Richard apparel, including the spring 2010 line, the store also features new Tori Richard-designed and branded accessories such as belts, handbags and jewelry.

The company has proudly crafted products in Hawaii for more than 50 years, and its made-in-Hawaii selection will also be available at the store.

Architecturally, the new store represents a departure from the look of its five sister stores at The Shops at Wailea on Maui and on Oahu at Ala Moana Center, The Royal Hawaiian Hotel, Hyatt Regency Waikiki and The Hilton Hawaiian Village.

Honolulu architect Jim Tucker created a distinctly modern, contemporary expression of Tori Richard’s retail environment.

“We have always wanted a Whalers Village location, so we’re particularly excited to finally bring the Tori Richard retail concept to West Maui,” President and CEO Josh Feldman said, citing Whalers Village’s location on the beach in the heart of Kaanapali Resort and its mix of kama‘aina and visitor shoppers.

“Despite the economic conditions nationally and in Hawaii, we feel it is an ideal time to open at this location. Tori Richard is Hawaii’s oldest locally owned apparel manufacturer/retailer; our investments and decisions are made for the long term.”

The company was founded in Honolulu in 1956.
