KAHULUI — Whole Foods Market will open its first Maui store at Maui Mall on Wednesday, Feb. 24.

Doors will open at 9 a.m. with the company’s traditional bread breaking ceremony, and the first 200 shoppers who spend $50 or more will receive a free reusable bag exclusive to Whole Foods Market’s Kahului store.

“We look forward to joining the Maui community and invite residents to visit the store and take part in our exciting lineup of activities and giveaways,” said Ray Stockton, the new location’s store team leader.

On Thursday, Feb. 25, the first 50 shoppers to sign up for Whole Foods Market’s e-newsletter will receive a free $10 Whole Foods Market Gift card. To sign up, visit the store’s Healthy Eating Booth in the produce department.

On Friday, Feb. 26, the first 200 shoppers who enter the store will receive a free Whole Foods Market coffee tumbler and free cup of coffee.

Hanzow

On Saturday, Feb. 27, the first 200 shoppers who spend $50 or more that day can score a free reusable shopping tote bag.

And on Sunday, Feb. 28, take advantage of the store’s Sandwich Sunday. Shoppers who purchase a custom-made sandwich from the store’s prepared foods department can choose between a container of free potato salad or macaroni salad (four ounces) while supplies last.

In related news, Whole Foods Market announced its leadership team for the new Maui location. Ethan Price and Debby Hanzow will join the store as assistant store team leaders, while Elyse Ditzel will serve as marketing supervisor.

“We are extremely excited to have three talented and enthusiastic team members join our leadership team,” said Stockton. “Both Elyse and Ethan come from our Kahala store, so they bring with them a lot of experience and knowledge of successfully opening a store in Hawaii. Additionally, Debby brings a lot of depth, having worked at a number of Whole Foods Market stores on the Mainland.”

Ditzel played an integral role with the opening of the company’s first Hawaii store in Kahala. As the store’s marketing supervisor, she assisted with creating and implementing marketing and community outreach events, and also worked with the leadership team to plan store events that created an exciting shopping experience.

Ditzel

In 2009, Ditzel was recognized by the company with the Regional All-Star award in the area of marketing. Ditzel has also worked at Whole Foods Market’s Thousand Oaks store as a marketing supervisor.

Hanzow joins Whole Foods Market Kahului from the company’s Boca Raton and Coral Springs stores, where she worked as an associate store team leader. At both stores, Hanzow assisted the store’s teams with production and operations and served as the point person for various departments. She is also providing training to team members and helped oversee the stores’ various green initiatives.

Prior to starting at Whole Foods Market Kahului, Price worked as a store receiver at the Kahala store tracking incoming shipments. Price helped create partnerships with a number of local non-profits to donate products to create second-use and recycling opportunities.

In 2009, Price was awarded the company’s Regional Receiver All-Star award. Most recently, Price also worked as an associate store team leader at Whole Foods Market’s Westminster store in Colorado and as a receiving and inventory trainer for Wild Oats Markets, Boulder.
