By Staff | Feb 4, 2010

KAANAPALI — Martin & MacArthur last week Friday opened a 3,300-square-foot store at Whalers Village in Kaanapali. It is the company’s largest retail location.

The Whalers Village store is the second Martin & MacArthur location on Maui, joining one at The Shops at Wailea. Its other retail outlets are on Oahu at Ward Center and Ala Moana Center.

As with all stores, the new Kaanapali location features the company’s own koa furniture and home accessories, all made in Hawaii.

The Whalers Village store also sells home furnishings made by more than 100 artisans from across the islands, an extensive collection of koa jewelry boxes and Hawaiian hardwood bowls, a wide assortment of authentic letters written by Hawaiian monarchs, original images from old Hawaii and original engravings from Webber’s artwork of Captain Cook’s voyages.

Marcella Morgan manages the new Whalers Village store, which hired seven new employees. A total of 75 are employed by the company, and all are based in Hawaii.

Over the next three months, CEO Michael Tam will continue the company’s strategic expansion with the opening of three more resort stores in The Westin Maui Resort & Spa in Kaanapali, Hilton Hawaiian Village, and The St. Regis Princeville Resort.
