Geri Emata, the host of “Self Made in Hawaii,” is searching for the best job in Hawaii.

KAHULUI — Channel OC16 will air a new television series produced on Maui called “Self Made in Hawaii” beginning Jan. 30 at 8 p.m.

The show is about entrepreneurship, small business and living the dream in Hawaii.

It features three main segments: a local success story, small business tune-up and search for the best job in Hawaii (host Geri Emata visits people at their workplace to find out).

Short success tips are also featured throughout the program.

In the premiere, Maui mom Karin Frost reveals how she went from sewing baby carries by hand in her Makawao living room, selling them one-by-one, to founding ERGObaby, now one of the leading baby wearing companies in the world. She has a very inspirational story of success, as she started with hardly any money.

The first small business tune-up segment features Maui SCORE Counselor Brian Thomas and small business Akamai Coffee, Maui’s first drive-through coffee shop located in the Home Depot parking lot in Kahului.

Thomas shares ideas with founder Kimberly Brown on how to thrive during difficult economic times.

And in the best job in Hawaii segment, host Geri Emata visits Sky Line Eco-Adventures to see if zipline tour guide is the best job in Hawaii.

The premiere also features success tips by Anna Ribucan of the Maui County Business Resource Center; Trevor Tokishi, executive vice president of Valley Isle Federal Credit Union; and Wendy Burkholder, executive director of Consumer Credit Counseling Services of Hawaii. They provide advice for prospering in this difficult economy.

“Self Made in Hawaii” is hosted by Emata and produced by Jess Craven of Lahaina.
