Planning to launch a business?

By Staff | Jan 7, 2010

WAILUKU — MEO Business Development Corp., an affiliate of Maui Economic Opportunity Inc., will present a series of evening classes for entrepreneurs during January and February.

The Core Four Business Planning Classes cover how to set goals, do market research, determine pricing, make the sale, understand and create cash flow projections and write a business plan — everything you need to know to start or grow your business.

Free and open to the public, introductory classes will be held on Jan. 12 and 14 from 6 to 7 p.m.

The six-week series of classes begins on Tuesday, Jan. 19, and continues from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays through Feb. 18.

Graduation, also known as a Banker’s Night, will be held on Feb. 23.

Registration is required for the six-week series. There is a fee of $250 for the course, but grants from the county Office of Economic Development, state Office of Community Service and Office of Hawaiian Affairs make financial assistance available for many students.

All classes will be held at MEO’s Family Center at 99 Mahalani St. in Wailuku.

For more information, call David Daly at 249-2990, extension 302.

MEO Business Development Corp. has made over 600 loans totaling just under $3 million in amounts from $500 to $25,000.

These loan recipients and the 1,350 business planning course graduates have created or retained more than 1,450 jobs in Maui County, MEO reported.
