Seminar to cover resolving disputes in property associations
WAIKAPU — The seminar “Why Nobody Likes You — How Boards, Managers & Legal Counsel Can Improve Relations With Owners” will be held Friday, Oct. 16, at Kahili Golf Course’s Nahele Room.
CAI Hawaii and the Condo Council of Maui (CCM) will present the event from 10 to 11:30 a.m., followed by lunch. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.
According to CCM, it is inevitable that there will be disputes at your association between the owners and professionals who work with and serve the associations.
Speakers Jamie Schraff, Steve Glanstein, Paula Osawa and Terrance M. Revere will discuss how associations can tackle the following issues:
1) Why on Earth would I want to serve on the board of directors of my community association?
2) Taming unruly board and association meetings.
3) Real life examples of poor association relationships from an owner’s standpoint and tips to avoid similar situations at your association.
4) Steps to prevent owners from suing… but if they do, how to respond.
Registration must be received by Oct. 12 to guarantee space. The fee is $50 for CCM members ($40 if postmarked by Oct. 9) and $60 for nonmembers ($50 if postmarked by Oct. 9).
