LAHAINA – Outlets of Maui in Lahaina will ring in Lunar New Year on Saturday, Feb. 1, with a series of fun and family-friendly special events.

Attendees will celebrate the Year of the Rat as they enjoy a Children’s Book Reading and Chinese Cultural Presentation at the recently opened Maui Friends of the Library store next to Maikai Woods from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Join special guests author Nansy Phleger and Busaba Yip Douglas, cultural specialist and docent of the Wo Hing Temple Museum, to be transported into a Chinese cultural adventure with a reading of “Li Chou and the Dragons Promise.”

A lion dance presented by Ben Seng Au and Au’s Shaolin Arts Society will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The exciting and colorful performance will begin at Main Stage and travel to Outlets of Maui’s stores. Attendees are welcome to “feed” the lions for good luck in the coming year.

All day, there will be special sales and deals at Tommy Hilfiger, Coach, Calvin Klein and more. Shoppers are also invited to visit Pi Artisan Pizzeria for a special Chinese New Year Celebration Pizza as they ring in the New Year.
