Dinner concert to support Maui Music Mission

By Staff | Nov 30, 2017

LAHAINA – Maui Music Mission will host its first annual dinner concert event, “From Here to the Stars,” on Saturday, Dec. 2, at the Maui Theatre’s Aloha Ballroom. Guests are in for a delightful evening with music performances to complement each of the three dinner courses.

Students from MMM’s tuition-free advanced program will be the main beneficiaries of the fundraiser.

They’ll be highlighting some of their best adaptations of songs by local musicians and international pop artists, as well as Hawaiian cultural favorites, while guests enjoy pupus from Hula Grill.

During the dinner hour, the Hawaiian trio Kuaola will serenade guests with their soothing harmonies laced with sweet falsetto.

Entrees will be generously donated by The Sheraton Maui, Koa 156 and Fleetwood’s on Front St.

For dessert, Maui’s own Soul Kitchen – an eight-piece jazz/soul band – will be there to entertain and inspire everyone with their eclectic style.

Relax and sip your favorite beverage while savoring sweet selections from The Bakery and The Sugar Shop.

You can also get up and move to the beat with dancing until 10 p.m. Select students will be joining this exciting group as featured accompanists for a very special presentation.

Maui Music Mission provides low-cost and free music lessons for the keiki of West Maui through After School Music and Saturday Performance Crew clubs as well as spring, summer and fall camps.

In March 2018, the performance crew is headed to California to compete in the Heritage Music Festival, where they will be inspired by other youth music groups from across the country.

MMM needs to raise $30,000 to fully fund the 12 students and their chaperones, many of whom would not otherwise be able to participate.

KoAloha Ukuleles has provided an elite soprano instrument for an exclusive raffle open only to the attending guests that evening.

Paired with a beautiful padded hard case from Maika’i Woods ukulele store, the prize has a total retail value of over $950.?

The event’s silent auction includes an overnight certificate with breakfast at the Sheraton Maui Resort and other valuable gifts, such as a spa gift bag, fine artwork, free parking, dinner cruise, golf, live theatre tickets and much more.

Tickets are $65 ($75 VIP) and can be purchased at www.mauimusicmission.com; Maika’i Woods at The Outlets of Maui, Maui Grill in Kaanapali, Mele Ukulele in Wailuku, and Kupono Music Studio and Round Table Pizza in Kihei; or call (808) 463-7856.
