Meet Hawaii seascape artist Roy Tabora

By Staff | May 18, 2017

Roy Tabora’s seascape paintings include “Out Of The Blue.”

LAHAINA – Hawaii artist Roy Tabora will set up an easel and paint while meeting the public at Lahaina Galleries at 736 Front St. from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on May 19 for “Friday Night Is Art Night in Lahaina!”

The splendor of Hawaii’s tropical shores is a constant source of Tabora’s inspiration. Yet in his creative process, he relies even more on his heart than he does on his eye.

“I romanticize,” he said. “The scenes I portray are memories I have imagined… memories of when the footprints of men were not so prolific and deep. Nature alone is the subject of my work. Its allure is exquisitely pure. That’s what I wish to convey. I see Hawaii’s land and sea the essence of beauty itself. It reaches to me with a richness of emotion that I simply must express.

“I love to come to Lahaina on Art Night. There’s a great ambiance for dining and strolling through the galleries on these Fridays. This has been going on for over 30 years, and Lahaina Galleries has been a strong presence for over 40 years,” Tabora added.
