Free entertainment for Earth Day

By Staff | Apr 13, 2017

“Love the West Maui Greenway Day” on April 22 at the Lahaina Civic Center Amphitheater will feature entertainment and “Get Fit the Green Way” classes and activities.

LAHAINA – Earth Day is quickly approaching, and a new event’s schedule is packed with entertainment and local performances. Join the crowd on April 22 for the first annual “Love the West Maui Greenway Day” to celebrate the environment, health and fitness, and local culture. Free afternoon entertainment will begin at 12:30 p.m., following morning “Get Fit the Green Way” classes and activities.

Entertainment will kick-off with a hula show performed by the award-winning Old Lahaina Luau. Old Lahaina Luau, founded in 1986 by four friends, has since grown to be a leader in the industry. They seat nearly 500 guests seven nights a week, and the luau is consistently rated one of the top Maui attractions. You will not want to miss their authentic music and hula show, which will take you on a musical journey through the history of Hawaii and its people.

Also on the entertainment schedule is musical guest Anthony Pfluke. This young and talented musician, accompanied by his ukulele and ki ho’alu, will be playing Hawaiian, contemporary and his own original songs. Additionally, Melinda Carroll, an accomplished singer, songwriter and teacher, will be performing different genres and cultures of music. Her music encourages both children and adults to explore their own relationship to creative movement and free expression. Lastly, local three-man band Fred’s Garage will get you on your feet with a variety of rock and roll classics! Sing along to familiar tunes and dance the day away with the talented Ray Chin, Mark Jackson, Jason Jerome and special guest Heather Hirschson.

Event organizers are also excited to announce the online silent auction. Beginning April 15, participants will have the chance to win amazing gift certificates, merchandise and tickets donated by local businesses, including Grand Wailea, Maui Theatre, The Snorkel Store, Whole Foods, Segway Maui and more.

Since the Earth Day event is free of charge, the silent auction is a great chance to support the West Maui Greenway project.

Other scheduled events include yoga classes, a community art project, hip-hop dancing, hula hooping, educational booths and food trucks.
