Festival celebrates National Kite Month and the world of kites
LAHAINA – April is National Kite Month, and Lahaina Restoration Foundation’s Chinese Kite Festival with Kite Flying will celebrate the wide world of kites over four days this year: April 13-16. This family fun event will feature kite making with a master kite artist from Colorado, kite demonstrations and presentations, kite flying with kite masters as well as Chinese cultural arts, foods and keiki craft activities.
On Thursday, April 13, from 4 to 7 p.m., the public is invited to take part in a community kite-making project at Lahaina Cannery Mall. This kite will be completed over the course of two days and sent up into the air on Saturday during kite flying festivities.
Wo Hing Museum & Cookhouse in Lahaina is the place to be on Friday, April 14, between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m., where admission is free all day.
