By Staff | Mar 16, 2017

Keiki ages 6-12 can see what instruments look like, hear the sounds they make, talk to real musicians and try the instruments out at the second annual “Musical Instrument Petting Zoo” at Lahaina Cannery Mall on March 24 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

LAHAINA – Maui Music Mission has opened registration for its Spring Break Music Camp, “Tsunami Talent.”

Set for the week of March 20, the camp runs from Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

This year’s showcase will be presented at Lahaina Cannery Mall on Friday, March 24, during MMM’s “Musical Instrument Petting Zoo” event.

Enrollment is limited. For registration information, send an e-mail to mauimusicmission@gmail.com.

The second annual “Musical Instrument Petting Zoo,” a unique event that is free and open to the public, will be held at Lahaina Cannery Mall on March 24 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Keiki ages 6-12 get a “passport” to travel around the “zoo” booths, where they discover musical instruments.

The children can see what the instruments look like, hear the sounds they make, talk to real musicians, and try the instruments out.

Maui Music Mission believes that music is essential for a child’s optimum development. “This FREE event puts the inspiration to love and learn music right within the reach of those who can benefit the most from it,” noted Reuben Pali of MMM.

The event will also feature a raffle, door prize drawings and a silent auction.

Proceeds will benefit Maui Music Mission’s After School Music Club, a low-cost music education program serving Lahaina and all of West Maui.
