LAHAINA – Lahaina Arts Association’s Annual Campaign, “Art Comes From the Heart,” started off strong with the annual silent auction at Banyan Tree Park and “Giving Tuesday,” the commercial holiday focused on online giving to nonprofit organizations.

Online contributions raised on “Giving Tuesday” and throughout the Annual Campaign will allow LAA to continue to host weekly after-school art classes around Maui County, as well as support in-school arts programs for Hana School and Kaunakakai School on Molokai.

According to Lahaina Arts Association, “This holiday season, it’s easy to see that ‘Art Comes From the Heart,’ and sharing the gift of childhood art education has never been more important.”

The LAA Annual Campaign continues through the holidays and wraps up on Jan. 1, 2017. LAA relies on grants and arts funding to provide free programs.

This funding may become unavailable in the future, the organization noted, so individual donations are needed more than ever. All donations to LAA, online or in person, are tax-deductible.

Lahaina Arts Association offers free art classes to children, provides a Hawaiian Youth Mentoring Program and awards partial tuition assistance scholarships to graduating Maui County art students.

LAA is a 501 (c)(3) charity dedicated to providing Maui County youth access to the creative arts through education and artistic opportunities.

The charity inspires creative thinking and artistic expression by creating opportunities for art appreciation and education through the support of grants, foundations and individual donations.
