Uncle George Kahumoku Jr. to perform on Rotary sunset cruise

Master slack key guitarist Uncle George Kahumoku Jr. will perform aboard Trilogy during the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset’s fall fundraiser cruise.

LAHAINA – Grammy Award-winning master slack key guitarist Uncle George Kahumoku Jr. will perform aboard the vessel Trilogy for the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset’s fall fundraiser cruise on Sunday, Nov. 13.

Check-in for the two-hour sunset, full moon cruise is at 4:15 p.m., with departure at 4:30 p.m. from Lahaina Harbor.

Tickets are $75 and include pupus and two cocktails. Proceeds benefit youth scholarships and other West Maui community projects.

“We are thrilled that Uncle George will be performing for this annual fundraiser,” said Melissa Fort, president of the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset.

“Helping the local community while sailing along the coastline enjoying the music of Uncle George, Hawaii’s Renaissance man – it doesn’t get much better than that,” she said.

For 12 years, Kahumoku has hosted a weekly show on Maui called “George Kahumoku Jr.’s Slack Key Show: Masters of Hawaiian Music.”
