Falsetto vocalist Dane Fujiwara to perform free Hawaiian Music Series concert

By Staff | Jun 16, 2016

In 2009, Dane Fujiwara won the Kindy Sproat Falsetto and Storytelling Contest on Hawaii Island. He also competed in Maui’s Festivals of Aloha Richard Ho‘opi‘i Leo Ki‘eki‘e Falsetto Contest. When not performing, he will be teaching math at Kamehameha Schools Kapalama.

LAHAINA – A falsetto singer with an outstanding vocal range, Dane Fujiwara will perform at Lahaina Restoration Foundation’s free Hawaiian Music Series concert on Thursday, June 30, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in front of the Baldwin Home Museum at the corner of Dickenson and Front streets in Lahaina.

Fujiwara was born and raised on Maui and graduated from Kamehameha Schools Kapalama on Oahu. His natural talent and love for Hawaiian music was strengthened by studying under some of Hawaii’s finest artists, including Hoku Zuttermeister and Kuana Torres Kahele.

After graduating, he continued to develop his skills, sharing the stage with many of today’s prominent Hawaiian musicians.

Limited seating is provided; blankets, mats and low beach chairs are welcome.

The ongoing Hawaiian Music Series program is sponsored by Hawaii Tourism Authority, the County of Maui Office of Economic Development and The Outlets of Maui with support from KPOA-FM.
