David Malo Day Ho‘olaule‘a set for Saturday
LAHAINA – Lahainaluna High School will present its cultural highlight event of the school year with the David Malo Day Ho’olaule’a on Saturday, April 16, at Boarders’ Field on campus.
The celebration honors the memory of David Malo, one of Lahainaluna’s first graduates, a teacher, administrator, cultural leader and liaison, and Hawaiian patriot. This year’s theme is “Pelehonuamea: Sacred Earth.”
The festivities begin at 5 p.m. with a traditional pa’ina (poi supper) that includes mouthwatering Luna lau lau, Maui grown fruits and vegetables, and beverages. The cost is $17; tickets will be available at the school administration office. Call 662-4000 for more information or to purchase tickets for the pa’ina.
At 6 p.m., the Sunset Pageant presented by the Lahainaluna Boarders’ Chorus and the school’s Hawaiiana Club will unfold on an immaculately groomed Boarders’ Field.
Music, song and hula will be performed by students, alumni, teachers and staff to the delight of all in attendance. Come and be part of a time-honored, storied event and re-connect with our sacred Earth.
