LAHAINA – “Buy Back The Beach,” a celebration under the stars at Old Lahaina Luau, will help protect Hawaii’s precious places.
The annual benefit for the Hawaiian Islands Land Trust will be held on Saturday, Jan. 23, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. The cost is $175 per person.
The evening will commence with an oceanfront cocktail reception followed by a family-style farm-to-table feast with live entertainment.
The event brings together Hawaii conservation advocates for an island-style pa’ina. Guests will be treated with ‘ono luau fare, complimentary cocktails, live and silent auctions and music by John Cruz.
This benefit provides much-needed operational support to ensure the Hawaiian Islands Land Trust continues its efforts to protect the lands that sustain us.
Born into one of the great musical families of Hawaii, Cruz is a Grammy Award-winning artist as well as a multiple Hawaii Na Hoku Hanohano Award winner.
His musical accomplishments are many; he has performed for the president, is a favorite stage partner of Jack Johnson, was named Best Singer/Songwriter in Hawaii in 2008 by Hawaii Magazine, and his album, “One Of These Days,” was noted as one of Hawaii’s greatest albums of the new century by Honolulu Magazine.
Known for his soulful vocals, Cruz is also a ki ho’alu (slack key) master and has distinguished himself with his unique acoustic style. His hit songs include “Island Style,” “Shine On” and “Sitting in Limbo.”
