MAPA offering fall break performing arts camps

The drama and dance camps will conclude with performances for the students’ families and friends.

WAILUKU – Maui Academy of Performing Arts (MAPA) is offering two performing arts camps during fall break next week at its main studios in downtown Wailuku.

Teaching artist Tina Kailiponi will teach the Fall Break Drama Camp for students ages 5-9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 5-9.

Students will have fun making new friends and building self-confidence as they learn how to create characters, improvise and work as a team. The camp culminates in a sharing event for family and friends on the last day.

No experience is necessary. Tuition is $195 for the week.

Students in the popular Fall Break Dance Camp will learn dance skills in ballet, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, musical theatre, tumbling/Acro-Flex, memorization, flexibility, coordination and teamwork.

Geared for students ages 6-10, the dance camp runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 5-9 and culminates in a performance for family and friends on the last day.

No experience is necessary. Instructors are Katie Talbot, Ajja DeShayne and Kathleen Schulz. Tuition is $195 for the week.

The camps will be held at MAPA at 2027 Main St. in Wailuku (enter from Market Street).
