ProArts’ ‘Cinderella’ opens Friday
KIHEI – ProArts is ready to stage its new production of “Cinderella,” a musical adaptation of the classic story, at the ProArts Playhouse in Kihei’s Azeka Shopping Center.
In this “fractured fairy tale,” nine of Maui’s finest actors play all the roles, including Cinderella, her devious stepsisters, her arrogant stepmother, the handsome but nerdy prince, the patient Page, the uptight King, a well-organized mouse and, of course, the magical Fairy Godmother.
The cast includes Casey Murphy, Rose Roselinsky, Sarah Loney, Dale Button, Vinnie Linares, Bill Schnitzer, Mark Bolden, Kristi Scott and Dylan Bode.
Keiki are provided with magic wands to help bring the story to life.
“Cinderella” is recommended for all family audiences; keiki, parents and grandparents will all enjoy this wacky version of the beloved tale.
After the performance, the audience is invited to meet the characters one-on-one to complete this magical theatrical event.
The play is produced and directed by Jonathan Lehman, with musical direction by Marti Kluth, costume design by Sarah Loney, scenic design by Caro Walker and lighting design by Bonnie Prucha.
“Cinderella” will be staged from April 6-22, with performances on Thursdays and Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Sundays at 1 and 4 p.m. (no show on April 8).
