LAHAINA – The community is invited to see the work of King Kamehameha III Elementary School third-, fourth- and fifth-graders in the school’s art show,

“Friday Night Art Night at King Kamehameha III” will be held on Friday, Dec. 9, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the 611 Front St. school.

The students have been busy learning about great artists and creating artwork using the elements of art.

There will also be a special performance by the King Kamehameha III School Choir at 5 p.m.

Come on down and enjoy the artwork of the future artists of Lahaina! Then feel free to stay and enjoy the PTA’s “Movie Night,” or walk down Front Street with your children to enjoy the artwork in the downtown galleries on “Second Friday” in Lahaina.

In related news, local artist Anna Good was a recent guest speaker at the After School Art Club at King Kamehameha III School.

She showcased her beautiful artwork with lifelike pencil drawings of people, watercolor animals in rich bold colors and Impressionistic flowers done with a palette knife in oil paints.

Good spoke to the students about what it takes to become an artist.

She also taught club members a lesson in learning to “see” what they are drawing without looking at our paper.

“It was fantastic! Mahalo, Ms. Good, for helping our art club and our school! The children all learned so much and were all so excited to have you there,” art teacher Stephanie Groom commented.
