Improv comedy group moves to new venue

Amanda Taulere, who founded The Comedy Hui in 2009, has been producing and directing improvisational comedy during the past ten years. She trained at the prestigious Groundlings Theatre Company while performing stand up comedy in many of the popular comedy clubs in Los Angeles, such as The Laugh Factory and The Comedy Store.
KAPALUA — On Sunday, July 10, The Comedy Hui will premiere at a new venue: The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua.
The popular improvisational comedy group is moving to the West Side.
Out to make Maui laugh, the show is similar to “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” — fast, fun and wacky.
The live stage production includes lots of the familiar games from the TV show — plus some new ones to add a tropical twist into the mix — while accompanied by a stellar, three-piece band.
The exciting experience has the cast and musicians co-creating the entire show on the spot with the audience. The comedians create various scenes and song and dance numbers completely based on audience selection.
The Comedy Hui is hosted by seasoned comedian Amanda Taulere. The witty redhead even invites a few audience volunteers up on stage to play with the cast under the
spotlight.
The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua’s intimate theater holds a maximum of 110 seats — the perfect size for audience members’ suggestions to be heard and used as part of the interactive experience
At the hui, you don’t just watch the show — you help create it!
The show will also be filmed for television, creating an even more exciting element for audience members.
Check-in is at 5 p.m., and reservations are required. Tickets are $48.50 plus tax per person.
