Broadway star to sing in ‘The Great American Songbook’

KAANAPALI — Groups from California’s Citrus College Performing Arts are performing free shows at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa through July 23.

Resort guests and local residents can enjoy countless live performances around the Hyatt’s grounds in “A Jazzy Summer.” All are invited, and admission is free.

At 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 9, in the Napili Gardens, the Hyatt presents “The Great American Songbook” starring Dale Kristien accompanied by the Citrus College Blue Note Orchestra.

Previously a cast member of “Phantom of the Opera” on Broadway, Kristien’s illustrious career includes over 1,700 lead performances opposite Michael Crawford in Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Phantom of the Opera.”

For this dazzling, 70-minute concert, she will be accompanied by the nearly 30-piece live orchestra for classic songs from Broadway shows and Hollywood musicals by top composers, including Cole Porter, Jerome Kern and Richard Rodgers.
