Celebrate whales at Ocean Arts Festival

LAHAINA — Lahaina will celebrate the annual migration of Pacific humpback whales to Maui with the Lahaina Whale and Ocean Arts Festival.

LahainaTown Action Committee will host the event on Saturday and Sunday, March 12-13, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Banyan Tree Park. Admission is free.

Artists will display their best marine-themed art for sale while musicians and hula troupes entertain the crowds.

Keiki will enjoy an ocean art contest, whale photo displays and a creature feature touch pool exhibit by Maui Ocean Center.

Events and displays will offer visitors and residents opportunities to learn more about whales. Naturalists will be on hand for information and presentations.

The festival will also feature food booths, an Ocean Tide Pool Exhibit on Saturday only from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and educational booths by the Center for Whale Studies, Whale Trust, Maui Ocean Center, Pacific Whale Foundation and the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary.
