Maui Humane Society plans swingin’ good time at gala

By Staff | Dec 23, 2010

PUUNENE — What could be better than honoring those who serve and protect while helping a great cause here on Maui?

Maui Humane Society (MHS) announced that its annual Fur Ball fund-raising gala will be held on Feb. 19, 2011 at the Grand Wailea Resort.

This fantastic evening will honor the service animals, men and women who have served our country in the armed forces, both past and present.

Considered one of Maui’s top events of the year, the 2011 event theme is “The Canine Canteen: Swing the Night Away,” so dust off your sailor suits, get out those vintage gowns and plan to attend.

Tickets to the Fur Ball make great Christmas gifts, or plan to extend the evening into a weekend “fur-cation” at Grand Wailea with special rates being offered exclusively for event guests.

The gala evening will begin at 5 p.m. in the Haleakala Ballroom with dinner, live and silent auctions, entertainment, a swing dance contest and many surprises!

Then boogie on over to the Canine Canteen (the resort’s Tsunami Nightclub) and trip the light fantastic to Deejay Dan Viola. The nightclub will be open one night only for this special event.

Fur Ball tickets are $150 each (including entry to Canine Canteen) or $125 for the dinner/auction event only.

In addition, the Grand Wailea is offering special room rates for Fur Ball guests who want to enjoy an overnight or weekend at the resort. Rates range from $199 per night for a Terrace Room to $325 for a Deluxe Ocean Room. Call the Grand Wailea directly at 875-1234 and ask for reservation code GMHS. For more information on the resort, visit www.GrandWailea.com.

Purchase your tickets, host a table, sign on as a sponsor or donate an auction item now for the 2011 Fur Ball.

Sponsorship levels range from $500 to $15,000, and quality live and silent auction items are welcome. Event sponsors at press time include Latitudes, Cathy Tai & BJB Charitable Trust, Cain & Herren Attorneys At Law, Richard & Lynne Buckley/REAP Foundation, Rose Royce & Rainbow Mall, Long Financial Services, Maui Printing Company and Pacific Radio Group.

Proceeds from the annual Fur Ball support the Maui Humane Society in its efforts to serve the community and provide care and compassion to Maui’s animals.
