‘Taste of the Islands’ to benefit culinary academy
WAILEA — Maui Culinary Academy’s 14th annual Noble Chef event, “Taste of the Islands,” is set for Friday, Oct. 29, at The Fairmont Kea Lani.
The benefit will begin with a reception at 6 p.m., followed by dinner and a live auction at 7 p.m.
Maui’s premier food and wine event to support culinary education, “The Noble Chef” will feature the talented students and faculty of Maui Culinary Academy (MCA) working alongside celebrity chefs from across the state.
The University of Hawaii Maui College hosts this prestigious event to highlight the talents of MCA students and faculty while raising funds for scholarships, staff development and expansion of the culinary arts program.
This year’s event will feature an assemblage of celebrity chefs from across the islands, who will prepare a dish of the dinner’s five-course menu and mentor MCA students. The guest chefs are Fabrice Huet of the Four Seasons Resort at Manele Bay, Colin Hazama of the Kauai Grill at St. Regis, Chef Collin Thornton of The Fairmont Orchid on the Big Island, Sheldon Simeon of Star Noodle in Lahaina and Donald Wressell of Guittard Chocolate Company.
The evening will also feature a cookbook release and signing by Chef Tylun Pang for “What Maui Likes to Eat.” Pang and Gail Ainsworth showcase Maui’s rich and varied culinary tradition through hand-selected recipes, stories of local farms and ranches and profiles of popular restaurants and beloved chefs.
Sales from the cookbook, which will be officially released at event, will benefit Maui Culinary Academy. The author and other local celebrity chef contributors will be present to sign cookbooks and celebrate the culinary arts with the Maui community.
Tickets are $150 per person. Sponsorship opportunities include $2,500 for a Patron Sponsorship (table of eight) and $5,000 for a Premiere Sponsorship (table of eight).
