‘Barktoberfest’: Beers, brats and fun for a great cause

KAANAPALI — Maui Humane Society (MHS) will hold its first-ever event on the West Side, “Barktoberfest,” on Saturday, Oct. 16, at The Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa.
This fabulous evening by the beach and under the stars will feature great grinds, tasty beer and incredible music!
Maui Brewing Company will provide four of its special brews for the event, and the event’s gourmet German fare will include Stuffed Chicken Cordon Bleu, Kase-Spatzle, Kassler Rippchen, Fire Roasted Apple Strudel, vegetarian options and much more.
MHS will have a special Keiki Tent with root beer floats and many fun animal-related games, crafts and activities.
“Barktoberfest” emcee Shaggy will keep the night rolling along with live music by Lisa Owen and The Village Musicians (Hawaii’s only oompah band), Paia’s own Haiku Hillbillys and the incomparable Jimmy Mac and the Kool Kats.
All of the proceeds from “Barktoberfest” will provide safe and nurturing shelter, food and veterinary care for animals in need, help reunite lost pets with their families, and help orphans find loving forever homes.
