It’s all new at Kahana’s China Boat restaurant

By Staff | Sep 30, 2010

In China Boat’s Patio Room, David and Alesha Brown of Napili enjoy the restaurant’s specialty: Steamed Fish Filets in ginger and onion sauce.

KAHANA — The China Boat restaurant in Kahana has reopened with just about everything new — bright and inviting décor, new manager and chef, new menu and additional seating and parking.

First opened in 1987, the restaurant is a gathering spot for authentic Chinese food.

Manager Grace Chen and her husband, Kai, have years of experience serving Szechwan, Mandarin, Cantonese and Japanese cuisine.

Located at 4474 Lower Honoapiillani Road behind Kahana Gateway shopping center, China Boat’s quiet location and creative dishes make it a popular lunch and dinner spot.

Only the freshest ingredients and finest spices are used to

create the restaurant’s vast menu of more than 100 items. No MSG is used.

China Boat’s popular dishes include Steamed Fish Filets in ginger and onion sauce, Pineapple Coconut Shrimp, Candied Walnut Shrimp and traditional favorites like Kung Pao Chicken and Moo-Shu Pork.

A full bar is available, and the owners have kept the prices moderate.

A lunch special is offered daily for $7.99. China Boat gives 15 percent off its “early bird “ dinner served between 5 and 6 p.m. daily, and a kama’aina discount of 10 percent is available for all other meals.

A patio room is available for groups of 20 to 30 people.

Hours of operation are Mondays to Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch, and nightly from 5 to 9:30 p.m. for dinner. China Boat also has “take away” and delivery service; call 669 5089 to order.

Grace said, “When you have a China Boat meal, we want it to be a special eating experience you will remember for a long time.”
