WAILUKU — Keith Regan and Lynn Araki-Regan are opening their Wailuku Heights home on Friday, Oct. 15, from 6 to 9 p.m. for a special fund-raising dinner in support of care for Maui’s keiki at the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children.
Guests at the dinner will be treated to an original menu prepared personally by celebrity chef and restaurateur D.K. Kodama, who will be present that evening, as well as a sneak peek at the upcoming plans to rebuild Kapiolani and how that will impact care for keiki on Maui.
Tickets to the dinner are $250 per person. All proceeds will benefit the Newborn Intensive Care Unit to assist in the care for Maui’s critically ill keiki.
“Keith and I are thrilled to be able to open our home and share the importance of Kapiolani with our neighbors and friends here on Maui,” said Lynn.
“Most people don’t realize that Kapiolani Medical Center is here to service all islands, not just Oahu. In 2005, we learned firsthand how vital it is when 29 weeks into my pregnancy, I began bleeding and had to be medivaced to Kapiolani. Our son, Riley, was born there and cared for in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit for a month. He is now a healthy, active kindergartener at Emmanuel Lutheran School.”
Mike Robinson, executive director of the Kapiolani Health Foundation, said, “At Kapiolani, we care for many of Maui’s children who need specialty care, treatment for cancer or who are born premature like Riley. Because our islands are more than 2,500 miles from any other pediatric care facility, it’s critical that Kapiolani is here for our families to ensure that our keiki can get the specialty care that they need when they need it. We are so grateful for families like the Araki-Regans for their support and efforts to share our mission with the community.”
