This free cultural event will feature more than eight halau (dance troupes) from across the island presenting richly choreographed kahiko (ancient) and auana (modern) hula that express the traditional values of Hawaii and the Pacific Islands.

The weekend celebration also features Hawaiian artisans and crafters demonstrating lei-making, wood carving and other traditional skills.

Also at Lahaina Cannery Mall, artistically painted and adorned canoe paddles will be on display as part of Napili Canoe Club exhibition called “Paddle Mania.”

Local artists have donated 37 paddles that will be auctioned off to raise funds toward the purchase of a canoe for club keiki and wahine.

The “Paddle Mania” exhibition runs through Aug. 14. For information on Lahaina Cannery Mall events, call 661-5304 or visit www.lahainacannery.com.
