By Staff | Jul 8, 2010

Playing music has taken Jason Kealaokala Sadang to Canada, Japan and legendary Carnegie Hall. He has also played at many events throughout the islands.

LAHAINA — Pull up a beach mat and join the crowd on the Baldwin Home Museum lawn for Kanikapila with Poki on Thursday, July 8, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Lahaina Restoration Foundation’s free lunch time concert will feature Jason Kealaokala Sadang and be hosted by Braddah Poki of Radio Station KPOA.

Sadang started playing music at the age of eight. Understanding fundamentally what it takes to make music, he has played with island greats like The Danny Kapoi Trio, The Waiehu Sons, ‘Ohana Kahaialii, Keali‘i Reichel and Uluwehi Guerrero.

Owner of his own record label, Kealaokala Records and J-Dawg Productions, Sadang is an accomplished musician who plays a wide array of genres, including traditional Hawaiian music, R&B, jazz, reggae and island music.

While Sadang performs at Kanikapila with Poki, the “Lei Ladies” of the Lahaina-Honolua Senior Citizens Club will string fresh flower lei under the shade of the kou trees on the Baldwin Home Museum lawn.

The museum is located on the corner of Front and Dickenson streets in the heart of historic Lahaina Town.

Kanakapila with Poki-The Hawaiian Music Series in Lahaina is coordinated by Lahaina Restoration Foundation and sponsored by the county Office of Economic Development and Hawaii Tourism Authority.
