Tea party to support Women Helping Women
WAILEA — Don’t be late for a very important date, and take a trip through the looking glass, at Women Helping Women’s 13th annual “Elegant Afternoon Tea: Women in Wonderland.”
This fund-raiser for Women Helping Women will be held on Sunday, May 2, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Molokini Lookout overlooking Gannon’s: A Pacific View Restaurant in Wailea.
Join in the fight to stop domestic violence at this event, which will feature festive decorations, live and silent auctions, a delicious “eat me” and “drink me” afternoon lunch prepared by Chef Bev Gannon, desserts created by Chef Cheech and the University of Hawaii at Maui College Culinary Academy and, of course, cups of tea that would impress even the Mad Hatter himself.
The theme of this year’s event, “Women in Wonderland,” is inspired by Lewis Carroll’s whimsical children’s book, “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland,” and Tim Burton’s highly acclaimed film, “Alice in Wonderland.”
Attendees are encouraged to dress as their favorite characters, as there will be prizes awarded to winners of the Wonderland Costume and Mad Hatter Hat Contests.
Tickets are $75 per person, and sponsorships are still available. Contact the Women Helping Women Tea Committee at (808) 242-6600, extension 22, e-mail tea@whwmaui.net or visit www.whwmaui.net.
