WAILUKU — The Maui Youth Philharmonic Orchestra (MYPO) will hold its fifth annual Spring Concert on Sunday, April 25, at 3 p.m. in the Baldwin High School Auditorium.
The public is welcome to attend this free concert; donations will be accepted.
Violin soloist Samuel Lim, student of Leah Tinkleman, will perform “Concerto No. 22” by G. Viotti.
The program will also include works by Tschaikovsky, Offenbach, Grainger and Telemann, plus selections from “Beauty and the Beast,” “Harry Potter” and more.
Music directors are Lance Jo of MYPO and Iolani Yamashiro, String Orchestra and Beginning Strings.
More than 70 students and adults comprise MYPO’s three performance groups.
Concert proceeds will go toward the Summer Music Festival 2010, a two-week music workshop set for June 14-25 at Pomaikai Elementary School.
The mission of MYPO is to expand and enhance music education on Maui by providing opportunities for young musicians to further develop their skills.
