Ho‘omau’s music lineup includes singer/songwriter Kelii Kanealii, a founding member of the group Hapa. He left Hapa in 2001 to pursue his solo career.

KAHULUI — Punana Leo o Maui’s annual all-day benefit concert, Ho‘omau, will be held at the Keopuolani Park Amphitheater on Saturday, March 27.

Gates open at 9 a.m., and the entertainment and festivities continue until sunset.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door for this benefit for Maui’s Hawaiian language immersion preschool.

The entertainment lineup includes Kelii Kanealii, Na Palapalai, ‘Ohana Pahuwai, Desmond Yap, Homestead, Maoli, Sudden Rush, Na Keiki o Punana Leo o Maui and Kula Kaiapuni o Maui.

The event will also feature live and silent auctions, crafters selling their wares, a Keiki Zone and food booths. Proceeds from food sales will benefit Kula Kaiapuni (Hawaiian language immersion education).

This year’s theme is Ho‘omau i Lako Pono ‘ia (continue to provide and possess what is necessary for true purpose). The theme logo was designed by one of the school’s very talented kumu (teachers), Ku‘ikahi Nakagawa.

For the first time in the event’s 23-year history, tickets are available online at www.hoomau.com. The website features complete event information and photos from past concerts.

Tickets are also available at Native Intelligence in Wailuku, Ruby’s Diner in Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center, Cute and Cuddly Baby Boutique in Maui Mall, Pacific Roots Tattoo in Kihei, and Pau‘wela Video Pix in Haiku.
