Augie T. to perform at ‘Laugh @ da Park’
SOUTH MAUI — As part of the Maui Whale Festival, Pacific Whale Foundation will host a “Laugh @ da Park” benefit dinner on Friday, Feb. 19, featuring a farm-to-table dinner of locally raised foods, live jazz by Fulton Toshambe Quartet and an after dinner comedy show by local comedian Augie T.
The benefit will take place at oceanside Kalama Park — under a big tent erected for the occasion — from 6 to 9 p.m.
“This benefit dinner for our marine education programs takes place on the evening before Whale Day,” said Ashley Justice, events coordinator at Pacific Whale Foundation (PWF).
“In past years, when setting up Whale Day, our staff has always been impressed with how lovely it is at the park in the evening, with those nice ocean breezes. We thought it would be fun to have a nice dinner event at the park on this special Whale Day weekend.”
The three-course, chef-prepared dinner will showcase locally grown and produced Maui products, including Maui Cattle Co. all-natural beef, sustainable seafood and organic vegetables grown especially for the occasion by O’o Farms.
Maui Brewing Company is donating its local micro-brewed beers for the event, and Tedeschi WInery is donating local wines.
Augie T. has been voted “Entertainer of The Year” by Midweek and the Honolulu Star-Bulletin. He hosts popular local radio programs on Q103 and KHEI.
His radio show was chosen as one of Hawaii’s favorites in the Honolulu Advertiser’s “Best of the Best” competition.
Tickets are $90 ($75 for PWF members) and include up to three cocktails per adult, as well as unlimited juices and sodas. You can save more by purchasing an entire table for a party of eight for $612 ($510 for foundation members).
This event is for adults ages 21 and over only. All attendees must bring valid identification to show proof of age.
The menu will include Ginger Tofu Won Ton Salad with Sesame Seed Dressing, Asian Pork Buns, Rosemary Roasted Prime Rib with Horseradish Sauce, Chinese-style Mahi Mahi, Oven-Roasted Chicken Breast with Garlic Hamakua Mushroom Cream, grilled vegetables, and Garden Vegetable Fried Rice.
Desserts will include a Pineapple and Taro Bread Pudding with Caramel Sauce, fresh baked brownies and fresh island fruit.
All proceeds benefit Pacific Whale Foundation’s marine education programs for Maui schoolchildren.
