Electric Surfers to debut CD

Catch The Electric Surfers at Lulu’s Lahaina Surf Club & Grill Friday from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m.
LAHAINA — One of the West Side’s top bands, The Electric Surfers, will hold a CD release party at Lulu’s Lahaina Surf Club & Grill at Lahaina Cannery Mall this Friday, Dec. 4, from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m.
According to band leader Mel “Tex” Arausa, the production and release of the CD culminates a lifelong dream and endeavor for members of The Electric Surfers.
“We’ve all worked and dreamed of this for most of our lives, and especially during the past three years that The Electric Surfers have been together,” he said.
“We like to bring out the passion of having fun here on Maui with our music. It’s an easy listening kind of sound that we like to call contemporary blues rock.”
Arausa is the band’s vocalist and plays acoustic guitar, keyboards and harmonica; Mark Jackson plays lead guitar; Mark Ciaburri is the drummer and percussionist; and Ray Hayes plays the bass.
“I’d really like to thank the boys in the band for all the work they’ve done in getting this CD out. We’ve really become a family of best friends through all of this,” he said.
“Molokai Moon” is the CD title track, with featured cuts including “Destined To Be Rich,” “Let’s Go” and “Day After Day” in the all-original release.
“We’re hoping it catches on,” added Arausa. “The Electric Surfers have had some exposure on Club Mana‘o public radio, and from that we got responses from all over the country. It seems like people really like the music.”
Arausa said “Molokai Moon” is available at cdbaby.com, Amazon and I-Tunes.
