De Lory to perform two shows
Donna De Lory will visit Maui for the second time to perform two concerts.
Shows are slated at The Studio Maui in Haiku on Friday, Sept. 25, at 7:30 p.m. and Island Spirit Yoga in Lahaina on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 7 p.m.
She will be joined by world-renowned rhythm weaver Ty Burhoe on tabla and longtime collaborator Cameron Stone on cello.
De Lory is a singer, songwriter, producer and musician whose voice and music transcend time and genre.
Fans will be familiar with De Lory from her years of touring with Madonna, but her music has its own compelling vision.
With her new release, “Sanctuary,” De Lory has crafted an expressive, spiritually-charged album that embraces both her passionate exploration of yoga and meditation-inspired music.
A devoted student of yoga and spiritual teachings, she is inspired not only by Western pop, but by Indian devotional music, Sanskrit mantras, Northern African grooves, psychedelic arrangements and dance beats.
The Los Angeles-based singer enjoys making what she calls “meditative music.” In concert, she delivers a seamless blend of Mantra and English devotional songs accompanied by her own harmonium and hypnotic band.
At The Studio Maui, she will also headline an innovative “Sweat Your Prayers” Dance featuring her creative offering invocations, moving meditations and ecstatic dances.
Tickets for the Lahaina concert are $20, available at Island Spirit Yoga-Lahaina at 840 Wainee St. in the Lahaina Square Shopping Center. Call 667-2111 for information. Space is limited, so come early and enjoy healthy, organic raw food dinner entrees and desserts made available by Maui Kombucha.
At The Studio Maui, 810 Haiku Road, Unit 265, De Lory will perform the Sept. 25 concert at 7:30 p.m. and the “Live 5 Rhythms Dance” on Sept. 26 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 for each event. Visit www.thestudiomaui.com or call 575-9390.
