Hula Grill to host Youth Ukulele Players Contest

KAANAPALI — Calling ukulele players and enthusiasts! Tune up your “ukes” and strum on down to the 13th annual Maui Youth Ukulele Players Contest at Hula Grill Kaanapali on Saturday, Sept. 26, to compete for prizes and bragging rights.
Check-in will be held from 8 to 8:30 a.m., followed by a keiki ukulele workshop. The competition begins at 10 a.m. and will include keiki from grades K-12 separated into solo and group divisions.
“It’s the 13th year of the ukulele contest, and it’s as popular as ever,” said Orinn Cross, general manager at Hula Grill. “By supporting young ukulele players, we’re sure that the love and admiration for ukulele music will live on for generations to come.”
Advance registration is required to participate in the contest. Entry forms are available at Bounty Music, Mele Ukulele and Hula Grill Kaanapali. All entries must be submitted by mail or fax by Saturday, Sept. 19. Participation costs $15 and includes breakfast, lunch and a T-shirt. All contestants will receive prizes.
