‘Slava’s Snowshow’ a world of wonder

By Staff | Aug 27, 2009

The forecast calls for snow drifts at “Slava’s Snowshow.”

KAHULUI — Snow is predicted on Maui this week!

“Slava’s Snowshow” will be staged at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Castle Theater on Friday, Aug. 28, at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 29, at 1:30  and 7:30 p.m.

“Slava’s Snowshow” is a stunning spectacle of beautifully crafted theatrical clowning, combining the unbridled silliness of slapstick with visual extravagance and beauty.

The ensemble cast of clowns creates a world of wonder in which a web of cotton envelops the audience, and one tiny piece of paper begins a blinding snowstorm that engulfs the awestruck audience in a blizzard of sparkling snowflakes.

“Utterly breathtaking, the stage effects are dazzling… suddenly the audience is young, innocent and transported with delight,” a Daily Mail critic noted.

Recommended for ages seven through adult, the show includes smoke and fog effects, occasional loud music, brief showers, high winds and plenty of snow.

Skies will be clear at first with clowns increasing, becoming more mischievous later in the show!

Tickets are $12, $27, $37 or $57; call 242-SHOW or visit www.mauiarts.org.
