Lahaina Gateway, Lahaina Farms to hold first anniversary celebration Saturday

At Barnes & Noble at 3 p.m., Na Hoku Hanohano Award winner Uluwehi Guerrero will launch his new CD, “Uluwehi Sings Na Mele Hula Aloha — Beloved Hula Songs,” with a performance, hula and signing.

LAHAINA — Lahaina Gateway and its gourmet grocery, Lahaina Farms Market, invite everyone to come and enjoy fun activities and tasty samplings at their first-year anniversary on Saturday, Aug. 22, from 4 to 8 p.m.

The event will feature the first annual Classic Car Show, food demonstrations and samplings, Hawaiian entertainment, special merchant sales kiosks, anniversary sales and prize drawings. Lahaina Farms will also host in-store events and anniversary sales.

Near Lahaina Gateway’s Hula Girl Fountain from 4 to 7 p.m., check out the Classic Car Show with the Maui Street Rodders.

From 5 to 6 p.m., West Maui’s own three-time Grammy Award winner and Hawaiian slack key master George Kahumoku Jr. will play.

From 6 to 6:45 p.m., the Napili Kai Foundation’s Keiki Hula Show will perform.

At Lahaina Farms, free food demonstrations, samplings, educational seminars and giveaways will be held both inside the store and under tents in the center’s parking lot. 

Many products will be on sale at special, one day only savings.

Try the Surf and Turf food sampling by Corporate Chef Keoni Chang, Spin the Wheel to win with Boar’s Head Meats and Cheeses, meet Maui farmers and sample their products, attend a wine seminar to learn about food pairings with your favorite foods, and sample natural and gourmet products, including chocolates, cheeses and salsa.

At Bare Escentuals in Passions Bloom, come in for a complimentary foundation color match and receive a gift from Bare Minerals with your $25 purchase of Bare Minerals products! Selected merchandise and clothing will be marked down 20 to 50 percent during this special event.

The Melting Pot will serve its delicious chocolate fondue, and Barnes & Noble, The Vitamin Shoppe, State Farm Insurance and Central Pacific Bank will staff special merchant sales kiosks.

The Lahainaluna High School Foundation will promote its events and raise money for a new stadium at LHS at the event.
