Ziggy Marley to play at War Memorial Stadium

The son of Reggae legend Bob Marley, Ziggy has won four Grammy Awards.
WAILUKU — International reggae star Ziggy Marley will headline a concert at War Memorial Stadium on Sunday, Aug. 16.
Set for 3 to 10 p.m., the concert lineup also includes Mysterious from Trinidad, Blak Diamon from Jamaica, Zion from the Virgin Islands, Joseph Israel & The Jerusalem Band with a special performance by Rovleta Fraser and local favorites Marty Dread and Ho‘okoa.

Thompson’s Productions, War Memorial Stadium, Tr3ees and Styrophibia are joining forces to highlight the importance of preserving the environment by making the Ziggy Marley concert an eco-friendly event.
All food and beverage service wares will be made from bio-compostable containers. Styrophobia will provide cups, serving wares and utensils made from sustainable products, and Tr3ees will set up recycling containers around the venue at each trash can.
In related news, also on Aug. 16, Pacific Whale Foundation will host a fun family benefit featuring Ziggy Marley from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Maui Prince Hotel in Makena
He will perform selections from his children’s album, “Family Time,” and sign autographs for fans. The event will also feature a performance by Gamekids, a talented group of local children who sing, dance, act and play games.
Following the performances, children can participate in an array of games and activities offered by Pacific Whale Foundation’s marine education staff. Refreshments and “Family Time” CDs will be available for purchase.
All proceeds from the event will benefit Pacific Whale Foundation’s environmental education programs for Maui’s schoolchildren. Admission is $5 for children ages 3-12 and $8 for accompanying parents and caregivers.
