Bark in the Park helps Maui’s orphaned pets

Bark in the Park will be held Aug. 15 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Kalama Park.

KIHEI — Maui Humane Society’s Bark in the Park, featuring a Walk for the Animals and benefit concert, will be held Saturday, Aug. 15.

A community event and fund-raiser for Maui’s orphaned animals, Bark in the Park is slated for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Kalama Park in Kihei.

The benefit begins with a Walk for the Animals and continues throughout the day with games, contests, demonstrations and food and service vendors. 

New for 2009, Bark in the Park will feature a benefit concert into the afternoon. Bands include Byron Brown and the Derelicts, the Throwdowns and Soul Package, which features a Maui Humane Society volunteer! 

Form a team! Challenge your friends! Raise money to help Maui’s orphaned pets!

Walkers raising $50 or more will receive an event goodie bag, including a Bark in the Park T-shirt.

Event admission is free; donations are encouraged.
