“Your Voice” workshops set

LAHAINA - Ever wonder how laws are made in our state and how you can try to affect them?

Each year, approximately 3,000 bills are introduced at the State Capitol. One or more of those bills may be of interest to you.?

If you're interested in getting involved or learning more about how things work, attend a free "Your Voice" workshop.

The Public Access Room will hold these outreach events at Makawao Public Library at 1159 Makawao Avenue on Monday, Sept. 16, from 6 to 7 p.m., Kihei Public Library at 35 Waimahaihai St. on Tuesday, Sept. 17, from 6 to 7 p.m., the Akaku Community Media Center Conference Room at 333 Dairy Road on Wednesday, Sept. 18, from 6 to 7 p.m., and the Lahaina Intermediate School Cafeteria at 871 Lahainaluna Road on Thursday, Sept. 19, from 6 to 7 p.m.

PAR will help you understand the legislative process, deadlines and power dynamics at the Hawaii Legislature. ?

Learn how to effectively navigate the legislature's website to find information important to you ?

PAR will provide tips and techniques on effective lobbying, testimony and communicating with state senators and representatives; helpful handouts, guides and resources; and nonpartisan guidance on how you can participate.
