Lahaina News

LAHAINA - On Thursday, Jan. 24, Surfside Woodfire Pizza Kitchen hosted members of Maui's Fire, Police and Emergency Management Services at their restaurant in recognition of their heroic efforts in battling the fires that threatened Lahaina in the midst of Hurricane Lane.

Longtime Kapalua resident and benefactor Leo Slocombe donated the pizzas for the event.

Surfside Woodfire Pizza Kitchen is Lahaina's newest eatery. Chef Chris Sailer, a Lahainaluna High School graduate, has created a menu using only fresh, locally grown food to create delicious pizzas, salads and sandwiches. The pizzas are made to order in the woodfire oven using keawe wood in a build your own concept.

Surfside Woodfire Pizza Kitchen hosted Maui first responders for lunch on Jan. 24.

Since the restaurant opened last summer, the people of Lahaina experienced hurricanes and a devastating fire.

Maui's first responders were at the forefront of these catastrophic events.

According to the restaurant team, "we owe them our eternal gratitude" for putting their lives at risk for all of us who live in West Maui.

Owners Francis Lynch and Carolyn Krisman, and the Surfside team, said they were honored to meet these heroes.
