The American Lung Association in Hawaii recognizes "Senator Baker's strong commitment to health and significant efforts to improve people's lives through her professional and charitable work," the organization reported.

"We recognize Senator Baker's career accomplishments as a longtime advocate for issues that affect the quality of life for Hawaii's residents. Her introduction and support of Tobacco 21 legislation led to Hawaii being the first state in the country to raise the purchase age for all tobacco products to 21. Senator Baker's strong support garnered national attention. Since Hawaii, California, Oregon, Maine and New Jersey have passed tobacco 21 laws. We applaud Senator Baker's successful efforts and her commitment to improving health."

The keynote speaker at the breakfast will be Mahealani Richardson, Hawaii News Now anchor/reporter, who will share her story of watching her father battle lung cancer.

The breakfast will be followed by a conference for medical professionals. To register for the breakfast, conference or both, visit action.lung.org/lungforcedayhawaii.
