LAHAINA – The local vacation rental company Coconut Condos recently welcomed new Director of Business Development Zach Thorstad, new Property Manager Valerie Giacomini, and new Warehouse Manager Caitlin Mishler.

Thorstad and his wife relocated to Maui from Santa Monica, California just over a year ago. He loves the island lifestyle and all that Maui has to offer.

“I love that I feel like I’m on permanent vacation,” said Thorstad, “and I would love to bring that feeling to each of our owners by making sure they don’t have to worry about their condos while they’re away, and by making sure they feel like they’re in paradise while they’re here.”

Thorstad moved to Maui to pursue real estate but put a hold on his license to explore other opportunities. He was originally hired to be the property and maintenance manager, but he was quickly reassigned because of his background in sales and marketing to assist CEO Lisa Meadows in finding and signing on new properties.

He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business and Entrepreneurship from San Diego State University.

Giacomini moved to Maui in 2005 to manage a bed and breakfast. Following that, she worked in property management in West Maui and spent the past six years managing the concierge department at one of those companies.

Being in property management is a great fit for Giacomini. “I love Maui and all it has to offer visitors and residents alike,” she commented. Living on Maui for almost 12 years also gives Giacomini a great knowledge base when speaking to guests about their upcoming vacation.

Mishler joined the Coconut Condos team in early March as the warehouse manager. Mishler is currently working toward her degree in business from the University of Hawaii Maui College. She has five years of experience in food and beverage and hotel hospitality.

“I love organizing and the little details, which translates so well into managing a warehouse. There are many moving parts; linens and supplies coming in and out all the time, and I enjoy the challenge of making sure it all runs smoothly,” said Mishler.

Coconut Condos, established in 2011, is a family-owned vacation rental management company located in West Maui. They manage vacation rentals at Aina Nalu, Puamana, Lahaina Shores and others. For more information, visit www.coconutcondos.com.
